For my landscape I chose to do a picture that my grandfather and I took. The sky had very vibrant colors so I really enjoyed being able to work on this. This picture taken up at Lake Tahoe where my family used to go camping every summer. Because I was out of town I couldn't bring my oil paints with me so I used my prisma colored pencils. I think it would have been more fun to do this in oil paints because they blend so easily. I enjoyed being able to use my wide variety of colored pencils because there were so many different colors in this piece. The blending pencil was a huge help in helping me to achieve the right texture and smoothness in the sky. I struggled doing the trees because I did the sky first. So I used a dark colored pencil over the sky and i used a black pen over it because the trees were a very distinct, dark, black. The first tree I did on the left turned out ok but I think the more trees I did the better they looked. I think this was a very successful project and I loved working on it.
