What's Cracking?
I bake a lot, not so much right now because I'm crazy busy working and doing art ALL THE TIME. I thought me cracking an egg would be an interesting way of showing this opposed to a bowl of random ingredients mixed together. As the year has progressed I feel that my pieces have gotten better and better. My technique has improved so much in the past year. Although the broken egg is dead center in the piece, the composition works well. The bowl is more to the left and the egg carton is pushed off into the top right. I like the way it makes your eyes travel across the page. I really like how this piece turned out. Each time I draw hands I feel that they look more and more realistic. There is always room for improvement but I think they're pretty dang great. Once again I used the white paint marker to enhance the highlights. I feel I could have done a better job on the bowl, the shadows are not intense enough and it needs a smoother surface. For some reason the white pencil tends to get very waxy and it becomes hard to smooth out when it is on its own. I was lost on how to make the egg white more transparent. If I were to redo this piece I would focus more on the egg whites to make it look even more realistic. Overall I like the colors and how this piece looks in general.
