Final Piano Hands
I really like how my final piece turned out. I was very nervous throughout this process because this was my first time using pen and ink. I kept pushing through and continued to have faith that it would turn out in the end. My favorite part about this piece is the actual piano keys. I love the reflection you can see on the black keys. It was difficult for me to paint the clean, straight lines because of my tremor but I learned from my classmates to use masking tape. Overall I am pleased with this project. This will not be the last time that I use pen and ink for a project.
Piano Hands in progress
My second concentration piece is my hands on the piano. I chose this for my concentration because I've been playing the piano since I was in third grade. Once again I took this picture from eye level, so whoever is looking at the piece sees it from my perspective. I just barely started working on this piece yesterday so I'm not very far into it. So far I have drawn the hands and my piano in pencil and I'm working on drawing in pen. Once everything is in pen I will go in with a .1 mm pen and do crosshatching and lines to make shadows. Once I finish that I'll go in with my ink and paint the shadows. This is my first project in pen and ink. Thankfully other students in my class have done projects in pen and ink and I can go back and look at their work as references to help me because I'm still learning. I'm really excited with the work that I've done so far. Drying the piano was a huge pain in the butt and took a long time to get the perspective right. I'm surprised that my hands turned out realistic looking. I can't wait to see how this project turns out.
